I remember an occasion when i really, really wanted
to get home. I was super homesick. The very thought
of going home sent currents of joy & excitement through
my veins. Home, where my family is, where friends are...
Home was where i would be safe. Where pple i could
count on were.
When the lights of home came into view, such relief
overwhelmed me. If i could run, i would have. Then
i arrived. I was home. At that moment, i wondered
why i ever left it.
The other day at my granddad's funeral wake, a question
was posed. If heaven is our final destination, our final
home, why are we so afraid of death? Why should
death scare us? Our loved ones who have passed on
have simply gone before us. They took an earlier flight.
Sitting in the second row with my cousins, i looked
at the picture of granddad (aka Ye Ye) on the table at
the foot of the coffin. And the words of a song played
in my head. "In the sweet by and by, we shall meet
on that beautiful shore."
"In my Father's house are many mansions. If it were
not so, would I have told you that?
And if I go and prepare a place for you, I will come again
and will take you to myself, that where I am you may be
also. And you know the way to where I am going.
Thomas said to him, "Lord, we do not know where you
are going. How can we know the way?
Jesus said to him, "I am the way, and the truth, and
the life. No one comes to the Father except through me."

ann siang hill
The girls and i met one evening to hit the art fart stores
on Ann Siang Hill.
We went to Woods in the Books first. I was pretty
overwhelmed by all the books man. They sell picture books
for kids and adults. And boy did i get a good serving
of Quinten Blake there :D I especially liked a book
entitled Waves.
Then we headed to The Little Drom Store which was tucked
in the loveliest corner. It's opposite the Screening Room,
away from the street. The store was perfect. I loved everything
about it. Kki is a patisserie that shares the space and it made
the place smell soooo good. I was given a tiny chocolate
hazelnut cookie to sample. It was goooood! I was told the
cheesecake is good so i'll make sure to try that the next time
i visit. I like savoury stuff better :)
Stanley of The Little Drom Store & me!
So do explore Ann Siang Hill. The vibe there is pretty cool.
Visit The Asylum, Polymath and Crust @ No. 86 Club Street
Singapore 069454 and Books Actually
There are also lifestyle stores there of names which i
suddenly can't recall.... hmmm... I know EGG3 and
Style Nordic are there...And a few others lah. Go explore!
Maybe have a meal before the exploration at Maxwell Food
Centre. The fish soup there is *yum* My favourite fish soup
store is located along Kadayanallur St, backed up behind
the Indian prata store.

bruce timm
i actually sat on the sofa for hours reading a Bruce Timm
interview. It was a book long, that's how it lasted hours.
A birthday gift from 2 buddies. Thanks girls... This book
makes me love Bruce Timm even more!!!

divine appt.
After we parted, i realised that my prayer had been answered.
Meeting with the girls over dinner, then coffee and cake reminded
me of the precious times we had during those 2 years. With them,
i was safe. With them, there was nothing to hide. They were a
bunch i knew would be there to catch me if ever i fell.
Thank you, Lord, for hearing me. Even when i strayed far...
You were always there. Always, always. You were waiting for me.
And when i called out to You in desperation, You had already
heard me and gone before me. My prayer had been answered
even before i prayed.

sweaky clean, w sparkles
"What? You didn't watch MTV in the 90s?! What? You've never
heard the Smashing Pumpkins? What? The only MJ song you knew
as a kid was Heal the World?"
For a sec, i wondered if i missed out. Then i knew if i didn't,
i wouldn't be who i am today. So, so what if i did.
There were others too...
"What? You've never tried smoking? What? You've never tried
stealing candy from a store? What? You've never played truant?"
*no offense to those who were in the car tt night. This realization
was nothing new. Just amplified.
